Panel of doctors recommend rehabilitation for Saakashvili

Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili, a former Georgian president, has been diagnosed with anorexia, intolerance to a number of foods and a decrease in muscle mass due to his post-stress depression, the doctors who are monitoring his health have concluded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 21, Mikhail Saakashvili announced a new endless hunger strike demanding the proper medical treatment. On March 10, Saakashvili suspended his hunger strike because of the situation in Ukraine. On March 13, he said that doctors from a civilian clinic in Tbilisi had examined him and confirmed his serious illnesses.

Mikhail Saakashvili has been diagnosed with post-stress depression, anorexia and weakness; his health condition has worsened compared to the doctors' previous examination conducted on January 11, the panel of doctors has stated at a press conference today. They believe that after the hunger strikes, Saakashvili suffers from a decrease in body weight due to muscle tissue, and due to protein starvation amid anorexia.

The doctors' panel has recommended conducting a timely comprehensive neuropsychological and physical rehabilitation, which, according to doctors, is a must due to Saakashvili's dietary restrictions, due to which there is a high risk of infections and disruption of the internal organs.
