Amnesty act applied to Beslan militiamen will be appealed against

The victims of the Beslan terror act are going to appeal against the court judgement to amnesty the former heads of local militia accused of negligence that entailed the school capture, the NEWS.ru reports.

The victims' advocates draw attention to the fact that the amnesty petition had a formulation like the following: "We don't plead guilty but ask for the pardon." Advocate Taimuraz Chedzhemov thinks that while making a decision to apply the amnesty, the court had first to establish the guilt of the defendants, which was never made, and only then - to amnesty them.

According to his story, the defendants and many witnesses on the case were not interrogated, besides, the evidences were not studied and all the materials of the case were not investigated. "And while no guilt was established by the court, it means that the militiamen should not be even amnestied - they should be acquitted," the "Interfax" quotes Mr. Chedzhemov.

Also today, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria has finished its sitting with the aim to form the jury for the process against Bagaudin Evloev and Ahmed Kotiev, employees of the Malogbek ROVD (District Militia Unit), accused of negligence that has entailed death of people in Beslan School No. 1, the "Gazeta.ru" reports. The "Interfax" informs with reference to the Court's spokesman that the consideration of the case on the merits will start on June 6.
