Pashinyan and Aliev agree to set up commission on border delimitation

As a result of the talks, Nikol Pashinyan, the Armenian Prime Minister, and Ilham Aliev, the Azerbaijani President, have agreed to set up a commission on delimitation of the countries' borders by the end of April, and start drafting a peace agreement.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 6, Aliev and Pashinyan met in Brussels. Yerevan and Baku have begun groping for common grounds on the issue of a peace agreement, but this may be hampered by separatist sentiments in the region. Besides, the Kremlin has its own interests in the Karabakh conflict zone, analysts in Baku have pointed out. The uncertainty of the Karabakh status prevents reaching fundamental agreements at the meeting, but the signing of a framework document is not ruled out, Armenian political analysts have suggested. However, they are sceptical in their expectations from the meeting.

"By the outcomes of the talks, an agreement was reached to set up, by the end of April, a commission on Armenian-Azerbaijani border delimitation, which will also be endowed with issues of ensuring security and stability along the border," the "ArmenPress" News Agency quotes the press service of the Armenian government.

Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, has treated the talks as productive.
