Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsperson treats situation near Parukh village as calm

After the redeployment of Azerbaijani troops near the village of Parukh, there were no armed incidents there. The civilian population left Parukh back after the autumn war of 2020, Gegam Stepanyan, the Nagorno-Karabakh Ombudsperson, has stated.

The village of Khramort is now calm, but women and children remain in evacuation for safety reasons, Mr Stepanyan has explained, adding that Azerbaijani militaries remain in their occupied positions.

The Ombudsperson has noted that Khramort villagers have no chance to do their agrarian works "The works stopped after February 24, when Azerbaijanis began broadcasting through loudspeakers; and before that, villagers worked in gardens and fields," Gegam Stepanyan has added.

The redeployment of Azerbaijani militaries in Nagorno-Karabakh is carried out to strengthen their positions, analysts in Baku have noted. According to their version, Mount Farrukh, the highest point in the east of Nagorno-Karabakh, from which a huge territory is controlled, is of particular importance for Azerbaijani militaries.

Earlier it was reported that in a number of Karabakh communities agricultural works resumed under the protection of Russian peacemakers. However, residents complained that they did not feel safe and demanded a withdrawal of Azerbaijani military forces away from villages.
