Armenian villagers complain about uncertainty due to close Azerbaijani checkpoints

The Armenian authorities reacted to the appearance of Azerbaijani checkpoints near the village of Nerkin Hand, but no action followed, villagers complained. The checkpoints have been installed on the territory of Azerbaijan, a military expert explains.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on March 16, residents of the Nerkin Hand village of the Kapan community in the Syunik Region complained that they could not drive their cattle to pastures and engage in agriculture after the Azerbaijani military had installed their new positions near the village.

Asmik Kazaryan, a resident of the village, says that the village cemetery is “at gunpoint.”

There is no need to move Azerbaijani checkpoints away from the village of Nerkin Hand, military expert Adalat Verdiev believes. “When the snow melts, the Azerbaijan military, like last year, will return to the borders set by maps. Last year, the Azerbaijani army did that,” the military expert said. He has explained that the Azerbaijani armed forces “stay only in the sovereign territories of Azerbaijan.”
