Closed sky regime in Southern Russia extended by another week

The ban on sending and receiving flights to and from the airports in six cities in Southern Russia, including Krasnodar, Stavropol and Rostov-on-Don, has been extended until March 26.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the start of the military operation in Ukraine, the work of airports in Southern of Russia was suspended – in Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Gelendjik, Elista and Stavropol. These restrictions were initially introduced until March 2 and then extended until March 20.

The special operation of Russian troops in Ukraine began on February 24. On February 27, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the first time admitted losses among Russian militaries in Ukraine without specifying the death toll. On March 2, the MoD's spokesman said that 498 Russian military servicemen perished in the special operation; other 1597 were wounded; the data has not been updated since.

The ban on flights of civilian air vessels over a part of the airspace in Southern Russia has been extended until March 26, the TASS has reported today citing a source in the Ministry of Transports.

The ban concerns the airports of Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Anapa, Gelendjik, Elista and Stavropol, as well as of Simferopol, Belgorod, Bryansk, Oryol, Kursk and Voronezh. At the same time, the Sochi Airport continues operating normally, the "Interfax" has reported today with reference to "Aerodinamika" Group of Companies.
