IAEA urges to refrain from shelling near the Zaporozhye NPP
The fire near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), which, according to the Ukrainian authorities, started last night after shelling, has been extinguished; nobody suffered. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has called on the parties to refrain from hostilities near the NPP.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 3, following the outcomes of the second round of negotiations, the delegations of Russia and Ukraine managed to agree on security measures during the evacuation of civilians and the supply of medicines and food to the cities of Ukraine.
The fire occurred tonight in the area of 2000 square meters in the building of the training centre located near the Zaporozhye NPP. By the morning, they managed to extinguish the fire, the RBC quotes a message from the Ukrainian party.
Dmitry Kuleba, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA), said that the fire started as a result of shelling.
According to Ukrainian authorities, the fire near the Zaporozhye NPP did not affect the main equipment of the plant, the IAEA has stated today.
Rafael Mariano Grossi, the IAEA Director General, has called for an immediate cessation of the use of force in Energodar, and also appealed to the armed forces operating there to refrain from violence near the NPP.
