Residents of Gapanly village return to their daily life after a shelling attack

The situation in the village of Gapanly in the Terter District of Azerbaijan, which was shelled by the Armenian military forces on the night of February 6, is calm. Villagers are engaged in their daily activities, and children have gone to school, say local residents.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on the night of February 6, the positions of the Azerbaijani army in the direction of the village of Gapanly in the Terter District were shelled from the territory where Russian peacekeepers were stationed. The Azerbaijani military forces responded with return fire, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) of Azerbaijan reported.

According to Ilkham Garaev, the head of the municipal council of the village of Garaagadjy, there were only a few shots from a submachine gun that night. “One bullet hit the yard of a local resident. No one was hurt. Residents of Gapanly do not fear shelling attacks. The village was on the front lines for 30 years and was shelled almost every day. But after the end of the war, peaceful life returned to the village. The destroyed houses were rebuilt, and women and children returned to the village,” Ilkham Garaev said.

Adil Akhmedov, a resident of Gapanly, notes that about 350-400 people live in the village, including 50-70 children.

According to the local resident, during the war in the autumn of 2020, the villagers arranged shelters in their yards, but after the war they were not used.

Adil Akhmedov has also added that the residents of Gapanly are engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture, and they cultivate grain.
