Saidi Yangulbaev treats decision to deprive him of immunity as illegal

The decision of the qualification board of judges of the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya to terminate the powers of a retired judge is contrary to the law and will be appealed against, Saidi Yangulbaev has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 3, the Chechen qualification board of judges decided to terminate the resignation of Saidi Yangulbaev, a former federal judge, thus, depriving him of immunity.

In November 2015, Ibragim, the middle Yangulbaevs' son, was brought, together with his father and brother Ibragim, to the residence of Ramzan Kadyrov, where they were beaten up for running a group on the "VKontakte" social network, the head of Chechnya declared a blood feud against Ibragim. The father, Saidi Yangulbaev, under the threat of Ibragim's death, was forced to resign from the post of the federal judge of the Chechen SC, the "Caucasian Knot" reports in its material "How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov's enemies".

Saidi Yangulbaev treats the deprivation of him of the status of a retired judge as illegal. "There are no grounds to terminate this status. It is specified in the law. This can only be done if I have received citizenship or a residence permit in another country. We'll appeal against this decision to the Supreme Qualifications Board of Russian Judges," the RBC quoted Saidi Yangulbaev as saying.

In his opinion, the deprivation of the status of a retired judge will be followed by initiation of a criminal case. "Having lost the status of a retired judge, I lose my immunity. Apparently, they want to fabricate some case against me as well. I just feel sorry for those judges, my former colleagues, who perform any Kadyrov's whims," the RBC narrates Yangulbaev's words.
