Chair of Chechen SC initiates withdrawal of Saidi Yangulbaev’s status

The Qualification Board of Judges of Chechnya has scheduled for February 3 the consideration of the initiative voiced by the chair of the Supreme Court (SC) of Chechnya to terminate the resignation of federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev, who left the country after the threats voiced by the leader of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 2, residents of Chechnya went out to a rally in central Grozny on order to voice curses, following the republic's leadership, against the Yangulbaev family. The pro-government Chechen media have treated the rally as spontaneous and reported that 400,000 people took part therein. On February 1, the Chechen officials sharply condemned the members of the Yangulbaev family and cursed and insulted its members, threatening to execute them. Ramzan Kadyrov compared the members of the Yangulbaev family with Khattab and Basaev.

Alavdin Gardaloev, the chair of the Chechen Supreme Court, submitted a proposal to terminate the resignation of federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev. According to the agenda of the first meeting of the Qualification Board of Judges of Chechnya, the Alavdin Gardaloev’s initiative is included in the list of issues scheduled for consideration at the meeting on February 3, reports the website of the High Qualification Board of Judges of Russia.

If the resignation is terminated, Saidi Yangulbaev will lose his immunity, status, and also lose the right to a pension, the “Ekho Moskvy” reports.
