It will take several months for the European Court to consider Georgia's suit versus Russia

A press service employee of the European Court for Human Rights has informed that the consideration of the Georgia's claim against Russia can take a couple of months.

The claim was filed on the basis of Article 33 of the European Convention on Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and accuses Russia of breaching the rights of Georgian immigrants at their deportation from Russia, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Interstate claims have no priority and are considered in the general order, on equal terms with the claims lodged by individuals.

Since the moment of its foundation in 1959, the European Court for Human Rights has received only three state-versus-state claims: Ireland versus United Kingdom (1978), Denmark versus Turkey (2000) and Cyprus versus Turkey (2001).

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that numerous cases of oppression against Georgian natives by members of Russian power agencies had become the consequence of the espionage scandal that had burst out in Georgia on September 27, 2006. In total, according to the Federal Migration Service, about five thousand Georgian citizens were deported from Russia during 9 months of last year.
