Timur Tumgoev sentenced to eight months in colony

The court has sentenced Timur Tumgoev, a native of North Ossetia, to eight months in a colony within the case of disrupting the work of the correctional institution.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Timur Tumgoev, a native of Vladikavkaz, took part in the hunger strike held by prisoners of the Saratov colony and cut himself in protest against custody conditions.

On November 10, the Balashov District Court sentenced Timur Tumgoev, an Ingush national and a native of North Ossetia, who was initially sentenced in 2019 to 18 years in prison on charges of participating in the Syrian war. This time, a case was initiated against Tumgoev under Article 321 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Disorganization of the work of the institutions providing isolation from the society"), his sister, Marina Tumgoeva, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Timur's advocate has written to me that within two cases initiated under Article 321, he was sentenced to three years and nine months, which were added to his unserved term of the main sentence. At the same time, a significant part of this term was cut off; and only eight months were added to the unserved term; thus, he has 15.5 years to stay in prison," Ms Tumgoeva has explained.

She intends to appeal against the new verdict.
