Saakashvili refuses medical assistance

On the 27th day of the hunger strike, Mikhail Saakashvili, the third president of Georgia, refused medical procedures and tests, while his health state worsened. An intensive care unit is on duty at the door of the prison.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Mikheil (Mikhail) Saakashvili is kept in Rustavi Prison, where he has been on a hunger strike since October 1 demanding his release. On October 26, 14 Georgian NGOs called on the authorities to resolve the issue of hospitalization of Mikhail Saakashvili, who categorically refused to be transferred to a prison hospital in Gldani.

After visiting Mikhail Saakashvili in prison, Ukrainian doctor Maxim Perebiinis reported that former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili refused medical assistance and procedures that would alleviate his health state, which worsened because of the hunger strike.

“Mikhail Saakashvili has announced that since he was denied help (hospitalization in a private clinic, – note of the “Caucasian Knot), he refuses medical assistance starting from today. He refuses to undergo tests and medical procedures that help ease his hunger,” said the doctor as quoted by the “News-Georgia”.
