More than 100,000 people registered to meet Saakashvili in Georgia

104,000 people have registered on a website, created to help Mikhail Saakashvili return to Georgia peacefully. This has been reported today by Tako Charkviani, an initiator of the project. The former president of Georgia will be detained at the airport upon arrival, like everyone who tries to prevent that, Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili warns.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in his Facebook page Saakashvii announced his intention to fly to Tbilisi on October 2.

In Georgia, Mikhail Saakashvili was sentenced in absentia to three years of imprisonment in a case on abuse of power when pardoning those convicted for the murder of businessman Sandro Girgvliani and to six years of imprisonment in a case on the 2005 beating of MP Valery Gelashvili. The former president of Georgia also faces other charges.

104,000 people have already registered on the website of the organization created to facilitate the peaceful return of former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili to his homeland, Tako Charkviani, the chair of the opposition “Law and Justice” Party, an MP and an initiator of the movement, reports today.

If Mikhail Saakashvili arrives in Georgia, he will be detained, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili emphasizes. “If he arrives in the country, we will arrest him, and whoever interferes with his arrest will also be arrested,” the “InterPressNews” quotes the Prime Minister of Georgia as saying.
