Azerbaijani authorities announce changes in anti-COVID measures

On October 1, Azerbaijan lifts restrictions on operation of public transport on weekends, and clubs, cinemas, and entertainment centres will resume their activities. To travel between cities and regions of the country by public transport, passengers will be required to produce a COVID passport.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 28, the Azerbaijani Cabinet of Ministers extended the quarantine period until November 1. Public transport is not operated throughout the country on weekends, including the Baku metro, and it is forbidden to hold public events, visit theatres, cinemas, and concert halls. Azerbaijan has announced the compulsory vaccination of 80% of public sector employees and workers of life support services, healthcare facilities, and public catering.

Taking into account the increase in the number of vaccinated people in Azerbaijan and the decrease in the number of infected patients, it was decided to weaken the restrictions within the special quarantine regime, the “Trend” agency reported with reference to the operational headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.
