Armenia is afraid that USA-Iran war will affect South Caucasian countries

Artashes Gegamyan, Chairman of the Party of "National Unity," has stated that Armenia should take today a clearer stand instead of being a mere observer in the American-Iranian opposition.

"Modern depth bombs that can be dropped on Iran will cause earthquakes, and Armenia may appear in a very dangerous tectonic zone," A. Gegamyan has stated.

In his words, the American-Iranian confrontation will have many consequences. The very fact that today the majority of Iraqi population, as well as the majority of the Iranian one, are Shiites will involve the whole Middle East into an armed opposition.

Professor Ruben Safrastyan, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, has also stated that Iran is an important factor of stability in South Caucasus. However, if the latter gets focused only on solving its problems, to what it is pushed by the USA, this fact will tell negatively on South Caucasus.

The scientist did not exclude that should the American-Iranian contradictions reach their apogee, Azerbaijan may take advantage of the chaotic situation in the region and launch an armed attack on Nagorny Karabakh.
