Azerbaijani Prosecutor’s Office reports 30 deaths from mine explosions after autumn war

During a search work in Azerbaijan, a demining specialist was blown up by a mine and was injured. In total, after the autumn war of 2020, 30 people were killed and 125 others were wounded in mine explosions in the Karabakh conflict zone, the Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that in the Karabakh conflict zone, local residents are regularly wounded and killed by mine explosions. So, on July 21, two employees of a construction company, engaged in the works on the territory of the Khodjaly District that came under the control of Azerbaijan, were blown up by a mine.

The process to demine territories after the combat actions in Karabakh may take years, because clearing the battlefield from ammunition is a long and difficult process, analysts note.

Bakhruz Nasirov, an employee of the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), who was sent to the village of Mekhdili in the Djabrail District to participate in the search work, was blown up by an anti-personnel mine and got injuries of varying severity, the Djabrail District Prosecutor’s Office reported.
