Aslan Cherkesov's mother complain about long absence of permits to visit her son
Sonya Cherkesova, a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria, has complained that she had not seen her son for about five years; Aslan is in a colony in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in October 2011, Aslan Cherkesov was found guilty of killing the football fan, Yegor Sviridov, in Moscow, which provoked mass nationalist demonstrations. Cherkesov refused to plead guilty; he is serving his term of 19 years and ten months in the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
His mother, Sonya Cherkesova, has complained that she saw her son the last time in 2016. "The Krasnoyarsk Territory is 5000 kilometres from here. I am 75 years old, I'm a Category II invalid, and I have neither health nor funds to travel so far to visit him," Ms Cherkesova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
According to her story, her request to transfer her son to one of the colonies in Kabardino-Balkaria was answered formally that "the issue of transferring A. Cherkesov to a correctional institution closer to his relatives' residence is being considered."
Sonya treated the answer formal and appealed to the Nalchik City Court claiming to declare the answer of the FSIN (Russian Federal Penitentiary Service) illegal. She asked the court to oblige the FSIN to provide her with a written reasoned answer to satisfy or reject her request.
