Pilgrims visit Karabakh monasteries being accompanied by peacekeepers

Peacekeepers ensured the safety of pilgrims from Stepanakert during their visits to the Amaras and Ganzasar monasteries on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh controlled by Azerbaijan, the Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) reported.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Russian peacekeepers ensure the safety of pilgrims when the latter visit monasteries in the territories that came under the control of Azerbaijan. So, on May 24, the Russian peacekeepers escorted pilgrims to the Amaras monastery, and on June 28, they ensured the safety of believers when they visited the Amaras and Gandzasar monasteries.

Amaras is an Armenian monastery founded in the 4th century. Gandzasar is an Armenian monastery located near the village of Vanklu. The now famous temple was built on the site of the old monastery in the 20th century, the “gandzasar.ru” reports.
