Azerbaijan accused Armenia of shelling its border positions

In the evening on July 9, positions of the Azerbaijani Army deployed in the border Gadabay District were shelled from Armenia, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has stated today.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 6, Armenia announced that the Azeri armed forces had provoked a shootout in the Gegarkunik District; an Armenian soldier and two Azeri servicemen were wounded. Baku has claimed that the Azerbaijani armed forces did not open fire. In the evening of the same day, the Azerbaijani MoD reported that its serviceman was wounded by the shelling opened by Armenian units in the responsibility zone of Russian peacemakers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

"On July 9 at 9:05 p.m., units of the Armenian Armed Forces acting from the positions located in the Chambarak District of Armenia opened fire from small arms at the positions of the Azerbaijani Army in the direction of the village of Zamanli in the Gadabay District," says the today’s statement of the Azerbaijani MoD received by the “Caucasian Knot”.

According to the MoD, there are no dead or wounded persons among the personnel of the Azerbaijani Army.
