Law enforcers come to search village head in Syunik Region

Investigators are conducting a search of the house of the head of the village of Vorotan in the Syunik Region, the head of the village community has informed himself.

According to Suren Ogandjanyan, the head of the village of Vorotan, employees of the Investigating Committee of Armenia are conducting a search in his house.

"The Investigating Committee is conducting the search, on the basis of some [...] document, nothing else. It has nothing to do with the elections," Mr Ogandjanyan said, adding that the investigators showed him a court warrant.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that yesterday, July 8, after the searches, law enforcers detained Manvel Paramazyan, the head of Kadjaran, and took him to Yerevan. A day earlier, Arush Arushanyan, the Mayor of Goris, was detained within the case of bribing voters during the recent parliamentary elections. Arushanyan treats his case as a political persecution, suggesting that his detention has to do with the intention to open a "corridor" across the Syunik Region. The persecution of community heads in the Syunik Region has to do with the election outcomes and plans to create the Zangezur Corridor, the leader of the “Reviving Armenia” Party, where Arushanyan and Paramazyan are board members, has suggested.
