Children of natives of four regions of Northern Caucasus taken away from Syria

More than 20 children who were in a refugee camp in the conflict zone in the Middle East have been brought to Moscow. They will be handed over to their relatives in Dagestan, Chechnya, Karachay-Cherkessia and Stavropol Territory, Anna Kuznetsova, the Russian children's ombudsperson, has reported.

According to various sources, in the Middle East, there are still hundreds of children from Dagestan, Chechnya and other regions of the Caucasus, as stated in the material of the "Caucasian Knot" entitled "Children of the Caliphate: what awaits them after IS*".

The aircraft with 23 Russian children from Syria landed in the Moscow region around midnight on July 3. After being examined at the hospital, the children will be sent to their relatives in Dagestan, Karachay-Cherkessia, Chechnya and Stavropol Territory, as well as in Tyumen and the Samara Region, the “Rossiyskaya Gazeta” reported, citing Ms Kuznetsova.

The above 23 children, the youngest of whom is not even two years old, returned to their homeland from the “Rozh” camp, said Anna Kuznetsova. Since 2018, a total of 341 Russian children have been returned to their homeland from Syria and Iraq, she has added. "Now our children are left only in the ‘Al-Khol’ camp. For 106 other children who are still there, documents have already been drafted," says the post placed on the website of the Children’s Ombudsperson.
