Story of dance in mountains of North Ossetia highlights shortcomings of work with tourists

While commenting on a video with an affectionate dance in the mountains, analysts said that booklets about traditions and bans in North Ossetia could prevent incidents provoking indignation of local residents. The Tourism Committee announced the information placed at the stands installed at the most popular tourist sites would be enough.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the video with an affectionate dance against the backdrop of mountains and the ancestral stone tower provoked a dispute about restrictions for tourists in North Ossetia. Instagram users note that upon their arrival to the republic tourists are to be handed out booklets about local traditions, and in the event of violations, a public apology should be sought.

According to Zaurbek Kodzaev, the chairman of the Tourism Committee for North Ossetia, while entering the republic, tourists most often understand where they are, and there is no need to hand them out any reminders with a set of rules of conduct.

Oleg Abaev, who is engaged in conducting author tours in North Ossetia, believes there is a need to distribute reminders with the rules of conduct to tourists so that there are no incidents like on the video in question.

Ossetian blogger Alik Pukhaev shares the dissatisfaction of social media users with the behaviour of people from the video.

Sometimes local residents also do not have complete information about the sacred places in their region. So, in May, a resident of a Dagestani village apologized for dancing Lezginka at a burial site in Derbent. Some social media users noted that the place was marked with insufficient information.
