Organizers apologize for fashion show in Makhachkala

The demonstration of a transparent dress at a fashion show in Makhachkala provoked am outburst of indignation on Instagram. Organizers of the fashion show disseminated a video message, in which they called the incident “an unfortunate mistake.”

On the night of May 26, the Instagram public account “chp.kavkaza” released a video showing three men sitting at a table and only one of them speaking. The man introduces himself as Arsen Luguev, who was in charge for the fashion show organized on the third floor of the Avar Theatre in Makhachkala. Arsen Luguev assures that he treats the Avars and other peoples of Dagestan with respect.

“We are very sorry that the event in question acquired such a colour because of an annoying mistake. The fact is there were ten fashion brands at the show, and one brand had a dress, which, when illuminated in the evening, played in completely different tones: from semi-transparent, it turned out to be actually transparent. When we noticed that, the model was already on the platform, and it was too late to change anything. However, we used a microphone and asked all the guests not to post the dress in any stories [on Instagram] in any way,” says Arsen Luguev.

Many Instagram users were not satisfied by the Arsen Luguev’s explanations. “It’s a shame, a disgrace. And they dare to make excuses sitting at a table,” user patimatmagomedova559 expressed her indignation. “Is this a fashion show for Dagestan? Well, will it be now so trendy to walk dressed like that in Makhachkala <...>? If anyone thinks it is so trendy, let his wives, sisters, and daughters be dressed like that. It’s a shame!” user ruslan_khabiev79 wrote.
