Oppositionists demand to stop persecuting Pashinyan’s opponents

Today, members of the ARF “Dashnaktsutyun” have held a protest in front of the building of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia. The activists demand to stop persecution of Nikol Pashinyan’s opponents detained in Syunik region and those who expressed their support for them.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 21, residents of the Syunik Region, demanding the resignation of the Armenian Prime Minister, blocked the way of the Nikol Pashinyan’s motorcade and he himself had to leave the city of Agarak. The Prime Minister instructed the heads of law enforcement bodies to find and punish organizers of the protest actions.

A protest action “against the lawlessness and arbitrariness” organized by members of the ARF “Dashnaktsutyun” was held in front of the building of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia, the “ArmInfo” reports today.

According to Artsvik Minasyan, the spokesman for the ARF “Dashnaktsutyun”, after residents of several cities in the Syunik region opposed the Nikol Pashinyan’s visit, a “disgusting” series of events began, and more than 30 people were detained.

During the protest action, held in front of the building of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Armenia, Elinar Vardanyan, a member of the “Alternative Projects” group, urged law enforcers to stop being “accomplices of the authorities.” “For three years in a row you followed all of his (Nikol Pashinyan’s) instructions and orders. For three years in a row you instituted criminal cases on his instructions and showed that you were allegedly fighting corruption, but with no results ... Do you understand that because of your inaction you jeopardize the future of Armenia every day?” said Elinar Vardanyan as quoted by the “Yerevan.Today”.
