Political analysts point to likelihood of Kadyrov's re-election as head of Chechnya

Ramzan Kadyrov's chances of being re-elected in September for a new term is office are great, since the Kremlin still treats him favourably, while Kadyrov's tense relations with law enforcers have smoothed out, experts gave stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September 2016, at the elections for the head of Chechnya, Kadyrov officially received the support of more than 97% of voters and was elected for his third term.

Despite Ramzan's repeated statements about his intention to leave his post, the likelihood of this is low, Evgeny Minchenko, the president of the communication holding "Minchenko Consulting", is sure.

Ramzan Kadyrov heads Chechnya since 2007. In 2017, he announced at least twice that he was ready to resign.

The issue of Kadyrov's possible transfer to some position in a federal power structure is a "fake topic" deserving no attention, says Gleb Pavlovsky, director of the Efficient Politics Fund.

Vladimir Putin's stay in power, in particular, is a guarantee of Kadyrov's re-election as the head of Chechnya in 2021, said Boris Kagarlitsky, a sociologist. He has treated the Kremlin's attitude to Ramzan Kadyrov and the ties with Chechnya as "special."
