Son reports worsening health condition of Azerbaijani oppositionist Salaev

The health condition of Alizamin Salaev, an activist of the Salyan district branch of the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), has deteriorated sharply in the colony; however, he receives no medical care, his son has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Alizamin Salaev, a PFPA member, who is serving his term on charges of libel and insult after spreading a video criticizing a policeman in social networks, complained about beatings in the colony after he declared a hunger strike in solidarity with Tofig Yagublu.

The health condition of Alizamin Salaev, who is kept in Colony No. 17, has deteriorated sharply, his son, Ogtai Salaev, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Yesterday (on April 2), my father called me and said that for three or four days he had been coughing badly, he had a chill and a high temperature, but he was not receiving any medical care. The father was not placed into the sanitary-medical unit of the colony under the pretext that there are no vacant beds there," said Ogtai Salaev.

According to his story, after his father's telephone call, he turned to the Main Medical Department of the Ministry of Justice demanding to provide medical care to his father.
