Pashinyan's opponents block streets in Yerevan

On Thursday (February 25) the opposition resumed its actions demanding the resignation of the Armenian Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan. Activists have temporarily blocked traffic in streets of Yerevan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 23, supporters of the opposition tried to block the government building in order to prevent Pashinyan from visiting it. Policemen set up a cordon in front of the building and detained protesters. Pashinyan's opponents also blocked one of the central streets of Yerevan, demanding his resignation. On February 24, supporters of the opposition visited two Yerevan higher schools and told young people how they can take part in disobedience actions.

According to Gerasim Vardanyan, a member of the "Dashnaktsutyun" Party, the protests will continue as long as Pashinyan and his team stay in power. After some time, activists unblocked the streets, the "Sputnik-Armenia" reports.

Protests demanding Pashinyan's resignation began after he signed a truce with Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020. Most of the actions are organized by 17 opposition forces, which also created the "Salvation Committee". The Prime Minister was urged to resign by the President of Armenia, as well as by Garegin II, the Catholicos of All Armenians.
