Resident of Azerbaijan dies after mine explosion

Three residents of the Fizuli District have blown themselves up by a mine. One of them died and two others were wounded, the ANAMA demining agency has reported.

The incident occurred in the village of Yukhary Yaglyvend, Fizuli District, after three local residents had penetrated the territory where hostilities were taking place during the autumn escalation of the Karabakh conflict, the APA News Agency reported in the evening on February 2, citing the ANAMA demining agency.

After the mine explosion, one of the villagers died; two others received wounds of different severity, the "Zerkalo.az" reported in the evening on February 2, citing the ANAMA.

Let us remind you that in the places of former hostilities in the Karabakh conflict zone, not only residents of Azerbaijan trigger mine explosions. Thus, on January 19, two Armenian rescuers were wounded by a mine explosion near the city of Megri, where they were looking for casualties' remains. Artyom Shakhnazaryan, a captain of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of Armenia, and a senior fire-fighter were wounded. On December 1, 2020, two servicemen, Zhirair Matevosyan and Gegam Ovannisyan, were killed during demining works in Nagorno-Karabakh.
