Chechnya: law enforcers scold violators of traffic rules

The police have posted a video clip on the Instagram showing a talk of policemen of the Urus-Martan District with the drivers who had violated traffic rules. Social network users have reproached law enforcers for violating the mask regime.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Chechen officials are regularly scolding and threatening local drivers for committing various offences. Thus, in August 2020, Magomed Daudov, the speaker of the Chechen parliament, demanded to seize cars from the drivers who did not wear protective masks. And in November 2020, Ramzan Kadyrov threatened to seize and burn down cars of those who disrespected policemen, and to send violators to compulsory public works.

On February 1, a video was posted in the page of the Urus-Martan ROVD (District Interior Division) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), showing three policemen talking to men in the car park. It follows from the description of the video that the ROVD employees had a meeting with violators of traffic rules.

The same video clip with the same description was posted on the Instagram public chp.chechenya on February 1. Some commentators have criticized the policemen for non-wearing mandatory medical masks. Another part of users doubted that they were the violators who were shown in the video.

"Have these old men violated the speed limits and manoeuvring rules? You are catching the wrong guys!" the user snaiperha___95 has written.

Some other users complained about the overly harsh policemen's actions. "Who has introduced the idea to seize a car for the absence of an insurance policy? Who has invented this? I am writing this because they took it away my car yesterday," the user arsaev_17 has written.
