Figurant in Khlebnikov's case punished with nine years for swindle

The Preobrazhenskiy Court of Moscow has sentenced Moscow notary Fail Sadretdinov, one of the figurants in Khlebnikov's case, to nine years of imprisonment for a swindle with an apartment. The Court has found Mr. Sadretdinov guilty of a large-scale swindle, legalization of property and abuse of the powers of notary, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Earlier, Sadretdinov was acquitted by a jury in the case related to the murder of Paul Khlebnikov, editor-in-chief of the Russian version of the Forbes magazine.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed that Paul Khlebnikov was killed in Moscow on July 9, 2004. By the version of the investigation, the assassination of the journalist was committed by members of an organized criminal group composed of residents of Chechnya. The investigation had also stated that the customer of Khlebnikov's murder - Chechnya resident Hozh-Ahmed Nuhaev - was also established.
