Egypt hands three Ingush natives accused of extremism over to Russia

Three out of four students from Ingushetia, accused by Egyptian authorities of extremism, have been extradited to Russia; diplomats are negotiating the transfer of the fourth one.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that students' relatives had complained that Russian officials were doing nothing to free the young people. On August 18, 2020, members of the Chechen-Ingush Diaspora in Paris held a protest action demanding to release the students who were kept in a Cairo prison without due sentencing and well-justified charges.

Three natives of Ingushetia, who have been in a Cairo jail since 2018, have been deported from Egypt to Russia, the "Dosh" magazine has reported.

"Three out of the four students from Ingushetia who had left for Egypt to receive religious education and were detained there, have been deported," the "Interfax" quoted a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) as saying.

Let us remind you that in April 2019, the above natives of Ingushetia were accused of extremism, espionage and links with the "Islamic State" (IS), a terrorist organization, banned in Russia by the court. The fate of the fifth detainee, Khizir Dugiev, remained unknown.
