Armenia counts 3439 its perished people in Nagorno-Karabakh

A total of 3439 bodies of those who perished on the Armenian side in the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh have been found, the Armenian Vice-Premier has stated. Armenian authorities are sure that the country's losses in battles for Nagorno-Karabakh did not exceed 4000 persons.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on January 5, the Armenian Ministry of Public Health announced the identification of the remains of 3360 military servicemen.

On January 20, Tigran Avinyan, the Armenian Vice-Premier, said during his speech at the Parliament that 3439 bodies had been removed from the war zone in Nagorno-Karabakh. "At the moment, we have 3439 bodies of the dead; 766 of them have not yet been identified. There are also missing persons. I don't want to announce the final figures. But the death toll will not be more than 4000," the TASS quotes Mr Avinyan as saying.

In its turn, on January 18, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced the names of 2855 Azerbaijani soldiers who perished in battles for Nagorno-Karabakh, adding 50 missing persons.
