Law enforcer wounded in Grozny presents details of attack

Akraman Tovbulatov, a policeman, said that he had received two knife wounds during the attack committed by Timurziev brothers, but he is recovering; it follows from a video clip released by Chingiz Akhmadov, Director of the "Grozny" ChGTRK (Chechen State TV and Radio Broadcasting Company).

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on December 28, in Grozny two men were shot dead in an attack on policemen; one of whom, Magomed Djabrailov, died. A policeman Akraman Tovbulatov was wounded. The attackers were the Timurziev brothers, natives of Ingushetia.

On January 7, Mr Akhmadov posted a video record of his talk with the wounded policeman in his Instagram page. The video lasts for 2.5 minutes; Akhmadov and Tovbulatov talk while sitting on beds in a hospital ward. They speak the Chechen language; the translation of their talk was made by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

When asked by Akhmadov about his health condition, Akraman Tovbulatov replied that "at the moment it is not bad." He said that he was wounded in his arm and back.

"The first blow was in the back," Mr Tovbulatov has explained. "Then I jumped back. Either I jumped back, or he kicked me, I don't remember, but I jumped back, then turned around and saw a knife in his hand. I grabbed him by the hand and knocked him down on the floor; the knife fell out of his hand. He wanted to reach the knife, but I restrained him with my body so that he would not reach it. Then one of my friends, who was on duty, kicked him and moved him away from me."
