Sergey Melikov promises to help parents of Gasanguseinov brothers

Today, Sergey Melikov, the acting leader of Dagestan, has met Murtazali Gasanguseinov and his spouse Patimat Gasanguseinova and offered them material support. Murtazali Gasanguseinov noted that he did not succeed in seeking an appointment with the former leader of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Murtazali Gasanguseinov, the father of the killed shepherds, held numerous protest actions and achieved the institution of a criminal case on the killing of his sons – 17-year-old Nabi and 19-year-old and Gasangusein – during a special operation conducted in August 2016. The law enforcement bodies declared the killed shepherds as militants, but the brothers' parents and their fellow villagers insisted that the young men were shepherds and were simply grazing sheep in the mountains.

Nabi, 17, and Gasangusein, 19, Gasanguseinov were killed on August 23, 2016, during an operation in the Shamil District of Dagestan. Law enforcers declared them to be militants, but their fellow villagers wouldn't agree with this.

According to a post on the Dagestani leader's page on Instagram, today, Sergey Melikov, the acting leader of Dagestan, has met Murtazali Gasanguseinov and his spouse Patimat Gasanguseinova. Sergey Melikov began a conversation by expressing his condolences.

The acting leader of Dagestan offered to help the Gasanguseinov family and noted that he was doing that "not as a head, not as a leader of the region, but simply as a person."

Murtazali Gasanguseinov thanked Sergey Melikov. "The only person who received us in this building is you," he said to the current leader of the republic.
