Investigators link Eldjarkiev's murder with large embezzlement in Ingushetia

Yakub Belkhoroev, a former head of the Ingush branch of the Social Insurance Fund, accused of embezzling 19 million roubles, is checked for involvement in the murder of Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the head of the Centre "E" in Ingushetia, and other terror acts, Rostislav Rassokhov, Deputy Head of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on July 22, investigators began bringing charges under a terrorist article to those detained within the case of the attempt on the life of the head of the Ingush CCE, Ibragim Eldjarkiev, in January 2019.

Ibragim Eldjarkiev was shot dead in Moscow on November 2. His brother Akhmed Eldjarkiev, a doctor at a Moscow hospital, also fell victim to the attack. According to sources, the murder of Ibragim Eldjarkiev could be a result of blood feud amid his conflict with members of the Batal-Khadji community, one of which leaders, Ibragim Belkharoev, was killed in 2018.

According to Mr Rassokhov, GUROVD (Chief Republic's Interior Department) officers are investigating two high-profile interconnected cases – the theft of more than 19 million roubles from the Ingush branch of the Social Insurance Fund and the murder of Ibragim Eldjarkiev, the head of the Centre for Countering Extremism (Centre "E") of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ingushetia, and his brother, committed on November 2, 2019, in Moscow.

Rostislav Rassokhov has recalled that Yakub Belkhoroev, a former head of the Ingush branch of the Russian Social Insurance Fund, who had also worked as Mayor of Magas, was accused of the above multi-million embezzlement.

Yakub Belkhoroev "is checked for involvement in committing terrorist crimes," but so far he is only charged with the embezzlement, Mr Rassokhov has noted.
