Resident of Dagestan confesses to helping law enforcers in extortion

A resident of Khasavyurt has admitted at a trial that he was an intermediary in the transfer of 250,000 roubles by Yulduz Kurashova, a Dagestani woman, to the policemen who had detained her. He repented and made amends for the damage.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 26, policemen detained Yulduz Kurashova, who was riding in a taxi. According to her story, she was beaten up, insulted and threatened with initiating a drug dealing case against her. Kurashova handed over 250,000 roubles to law enforcers, but was still prosecuted. According to her complaint, two law enforcers were suspected of exceeding their powers.

A criminal case has been opened against a man who, at Kurashova's request, took the money from her flat and brought it to the police, said Abubakar Yangulbaev, a lawyer with the Committee against Torture (CaT).

According to Kurashova, she has not received any threats recently.
