Armenians of Lachin District mark their leaving by setting fire to houses

In anticipation of the transfer of the Lachin District to Azerbaijan, scheduled for December 1, the Armenian population leaves their houses and sets them on fire.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 20, the Azerbaijani armed forces occupied the Agdam District and seven villages in the Martakert District of Nagorno-Karabakh, and on November 25, they took control over the Kelbajar District (the Armenian name is Karvachar, – note of the "Caucasian Knot").

While leaving Kelbajar, local residents set fire to houses, offices, and infrastructure facilities. They also took remains of their relatives from cemeteries.

People leave villages and towns in the Lachin District and take with them roofs, doors of houses, and even power lines. Just like when leaving the Kelbajar and Agdam Districts, the Armenian population leaves their houses and sets them on fire. The fire spreads to trees and causes forest fires, the "Sputnik-Azerbaijan" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has drafted a map to show the territories that will pass over to Azerbaijan after the autumn war. Also, the "Caucasian Knot" has published a deployment map of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh.

A resident of the village of Karegakh (the Azerbaijani name is Karakakh, – note of the "Caucasian Knot") explained that he did not want to leave his house to Azerbaijanis. "I have been building my house for 23 years not for Turks," said the man as quoted by the "Kommersant".

Azerbaijan will gain control over 52 villages in the Lachin District, the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the information of the Armenian government.

Most of the villages and towns transferred under the control of Azerbaijan had been destroyed long before the autumn escalation of the conflict. So, in Agdam, where 23,000 people lived earlier, not a single surviving building remained.
