Azerbaijan counts 61 shelling attacks committed by Armenia

Eight border villages, where positions of the Azerbaijani Army are stationed, came under fire from Armenian militaries, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence (MoD) has reported.

On September 24-25, Armenian militaries violated the ceasefire for 61 times by using large-calibre machine guns and sniper rifles, the MoD's website reports.

According to Baku, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the villages of Gadjally, Alibeili, Agdam, Kokhanebi, Asrik Djyrdakhan, Agbulag and Mundjuglu of the Tovuz District, in the village of Garaveliler and on the unnamed heights in the Gadabay District.

The conflict on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border escalated on July 12. Azerbaijan accused Armenia of trying to attack its positions. According to the Armenian side, the reason was an attempt to break through by Azerbaijan. According to official information, from July 12 to July 27, six Armenian soldiers perished; 38 people were wounded: 35 soldiers, two policemen and one civilian. The Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 casualties (including 12 soldiers and one civilian) and four wounded servicemen.
