On August 17-23, at least seven people suffered during armed conflict in Northern Caucasus
During the week of August 17-23, 2020, at least seven people fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus: five perished and two were wounded. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.
All the five casualties were alleged members of the armed underground in Ingushetia.
Attacks on law enforcers
On August 17, law enforcers found a hideout in the forest near the village of Galashki in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia and began searching for militants. After that, two unidentified men attacked law enforcers, who opened a return fire and killed the attackers. Firearms, ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found at the venue of the shootout.
Special and counterterrorist operations
On August 23, a counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in the village of Troitskoye in the Sunzha District of Ingushetia. The village was completely de-energized. The alleged militants found in one of the houses were blocked and offered to surrender. In response, they opened fire and wounded two law enforcers. During the armed clash, law enforcers killed three militants; one of them was identified as Aslan Gadaborshev, who lived in North Ossetia; he could have been involved in the attacks on law enforcers in Galashki.
Detentions
On August 21, law enforcers conducted another raid near the "Tangim" Mosque in Makhachkala. They stopped believers' cars and checked their documents, writing down the data of the driver and the car. The Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has stated that the policemen were defending the public order in crowded places.
