Court releases Ingush activist Ruslan Dzeitov

The defence succeeded in seeking the release of Ruslan Dzeitov, who was sentenced for attacking a law enforcer during a rally in Magas. The court of Stavropol counted the months spent by the activist under arrest as his imprisonment term.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Ingush activist Ruslan Dzeitov was arrested in May 2019, and in February 2020, he was found guilty of attacking a fighter of the National Guard of Russia. Ruslan Dzeitov was sentenced to 21 months of imprisonment. In April 2020, the court toughened the sentence of Ruslan Dzeitov by obliging him to service his punishment in a common-security penal colony instead of a settlement penal colony. On June 25, the Cassation Court of Pyatigorsk granted the appeal filed by the defence and sent the Ruslan Dzeitov's case for reconsideration to the Stavropol Territorial Court.

As a result of the today's court hearing, the court counted the months of the Ruslan Dzeitov's arrest as his punishment term and pronounced a decision to release the activist, advocate Visit Tsoroev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
