Chechen residents criticize Kadyrov for violating mask regime on Eid al-Adha

Ramzan Kadyrov, his relatives, and participants of religious rituals held in the house of the leader of Chechnya and at the grave of Akhmat Kadyrov ignored the requirements issued by the "Rospotrebnadzor" (Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare), although ordinary people are fined for such violations, local residents claim.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the Muftiate of Chechnya warned to comply with social distancing and mask regime during collective prayers in mosques.

Local residents have noted a marked drop in the animal sacrifice sale this year. Some believers refused to perform the rite of sacrifice, because they were short of money to buy meat after several months of self-isolation. Instagram users complained that the Akhmat Kadyrov Foundation failed to fulfil the promise to distribute sheep for sacrifice on the holiday of Eid al-Adha to everyone in need.

A report released by the "Grozny" TV Channel shows that religious figures and people from among the subordinates of the leader of Chechnya who visited the grave of Akhmat Kadyrov were standing in a close circle without masks on their faces. No participants of the sacrifice ceremony, including the children of the leader of Chechnya, wore medical masks, as well as theologians who performed religious rituals in the house of the Chechen leader.

Residents of Chechnya expressed their indignation at the fact that Ramzan Kadyrov and his subordinates ignored anti-epidemic requirements.

This is not the first time when officials have violated their own bans, notes Islam, a resident of Chechnya. "Ramzan Kadyrov recently resented the fact that the population of the republic did not comply with the mask regime. However, yesterday, together with his subordinates and family members, the Chechen leader demonstrated that he himself does not adhere to those rules," the man said.
