Azerbaijan claims shelling of four villages near Armenian border

During the last 24 hours, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army stationed in the Karabakh conflict zone and on the border with Armenia were shelled for 38 times, including from sniper rifles, the country's Ministry of Defence (MoD) has informed.

On July 12, the conflict escalated on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border; according to official information, by July 16, six soldiers were killed on the Armenian side, and 39 people were wounded, of which 36 were military, two were a policeman and one civilian. By the same day, the Azerbaijani authorities reported 13 casualties: of them, 12 were military serviceman and one was a civilian. Four other soldiers were wounded.

"During the last 24 hours, units of the Armed Forces of Armenia, by using sniper rifles, violated the ceasefire for 38 times in various directions of the frontline," the website of the Azerbaijani MoD has reported.

According to the MoD, the positions of the Azerbaijani Army deployed in the villages of Alibeili, Agdam and Kokhanebi of the Tovuz District, and in the village of Zamanly and on nameless heights in the Gadabay District came under fire.
