Baku: action in support of army turns into activists' clashes with police

Law enforcers used truncheons to oust supporters of the Azerbaijani Army from the parliament building.

At night on July 15, an unauthorized march in support of the Azerbaijani Army was held in Baku. The meeting in one of Baku neighbourhoods of the coffin with the body of Colonel Ilgar Mirzoev, who perished in the fight in the Tovuz District, turned into a spontaneous demonstration.

The police had to use water cannons to disperse the people remaining in the square. Some demonstrators turned over a police car, the "Turan" News Agency has reported.

Activists believe that the riots were triggered by provocateurs.

"The doors of the Milli Majlis were intentionally left open. The police car was turned over by special groups," the blogger, Khabib Muntazir wrote on the Facebook.
