Resident of Georgia injured in shootout with South-Ossetian border guards

Zaza Kakheladze, a Georgian citizen, opened fire at detention; this is the first such incident in 12 years, the KGB (Committee of State Security) of South Ossetia has stated. The Georgian party has condemned the actions of South-Ossetian law enforcers.

Border guards wounded Kakheladze in the leg and detained him. He was rendered the necessary medical assistance; his health condition is satisfactory, Ekaterina Byazrova, the official spokesperson of the South-Ossetian KGB, wrote in the KGB's Facebook page.

Ms Byazrova has noted that this is the first such incident on the border since 2008, the edition named "Osnova" has reported.

The Georgian State Security Service (SSS) has treated the incident as "a dangerous precedent."

According to special services, the incident occurred in the territory adjacent to the Skhvilo Fortress in the village of Kvemo-Chala, the Kaspi District.
