Makhachkala salesmen demand from authorities to open markets

The Makhachkala City Mayoralty promises to consider opening markets if salesmen confirm their readiness to comply with sanitary requirements. Entrepreneurs claim they lost their income in the absence of support from the local authorities.

Makhachkala Mayor Salman Dadaev met activists representing the entrepreneurs from several capital markets. The meeting was also attended by Salimkhan Akhmedov, First Deputy Mayor of Makhachkala, Batyr Emeev, Deputy Minister of Industry and Energy of Dagestan, and Magomed Magomedov, the assistant to the leader of the republic.

The officials promised the entrepreneurs support, but pointed out the importance of compliance with the sanitary requirements. "Officials from the city authorities handed over to the businessmen the leaflets with recommendations for arrangements to be done at retail outlets for compliance with the requirements of the 'Rospotrebnadzor' (Russian Federal Agency for Consumer Supervision). After two or three days, the authorities plan to check the readiness of the markets for compliance with the sanitary requirements. If the inspections announce positive results, the Mayoralty will file a motion to the republic's authorities to include opening of the markets in the mitigation phase," announces the Makhachkala City Mayoralty in the statement posted on its official website on June 21.

Earlier, on June 18, salesmen from the Makhachkala "Irchi Kazaka" market gathered on its territory with the demand to open the market. The entrepreneurs complain that they have been spending three months without work and lost their livelihood, while the authorities do not provide any support to them.
