Residents of Chechnya outraged by Kadyrov's violation of mask regime in mosque

The head of Chechnya and other senior officials prayed in a mosque without medical masks despite the stringent requirements for other believers, residents of the republic have indicated.

On June 5, Friday's Juma-namazes (prayers) were held in 17 mosques in Chechnya for the first time in 10 weeks. Ramzan Kadyrov, the Mufti of Chechnya, Salakh Mezhiev, and a number of officials visited a mosque in Shali. Only Magomed Daudov, the Speaker of the Parliament, was in mask.

Instagram users have pointed to violations of the quarantine regime committed by the head of Chechnya and his entourage.

The residents of Chechnya, interviewed by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, have also expressed dissatisfaction with the appearance of Kadyrov and other officials in the mosque without masks.

"Aren't all believers equal before Allah? Why can they do what others cannot?" Abu, a resident of Chechnya, was indignant.

This is manifestation of injustice, contrary to Islam, said Murad, a resident of Grozny.

Chechen authorities regularly demonstrate double standards and disregard for the rules they have themselves established, Idris has stated.
