Pneumonia patients in Gergebil left without COVID-19 tests

In the Gergebil District of Dagestan, the total number of patients with coronavirus and community-acquired pneumonia made 407 persons, but not all pneumonia patients have undergone a laboratory study on COVID-19, a district hospital employee has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 30, local residents reported that hospitals in the Gergebil District were overcrowded; 12 people died within a few days; and there were no drugs and artificial lung ventilation (ALV) machines in hospitals.

Since the start of the epidemic, the total number of patients with coronavirus infection and community-acquired pneumonia in the Gergebil District of Dagestan has reached 407 people; 68 of them are being treated in hospitals; and 20 people are treated at home, a source from the district hospital told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The total number of deaths from community-acquired pneumonia and coronavirus in the Gergebil District since the epidemic start made 25 people.

Those with community-acquired pneumonia were tested for coronavirus, but not everyone was able to undergo a laboratory test. Laboratories failed to cope with many analyzes coming from districts, due to the large number of patients and the overall workload on laboratories, the hospital explained.
