"Novaya Gazeta" journalists who write about North Caucasus and Politkovskaya receive assassination threats

On November 24, 2006, two employees of the "Novaya Gazeta" were threatened assassination. The fact was made public in the application of the edition placed in the web site of the newspaper on Monday.

According to "Novaya Gazeta," one of its employees was threatened in connection with publication of articles on North Caucasian problems, and the other - because of his investigation into the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, observer of the newspaper.

The NEWSru.com reports that one of these employees has received a threatening SMS, and the message contained the home address of the journalist. The law-enforcement bodies have been notified about the facts.

We remind you that Anna Politkovskaya, "Novaya Gazeta" journalist, who was shot dead on October 7 in Moscow, was known, first of all, for her materials on Chechnya and North Caucasus.
