Defence challenges arrest of a rally participant in Vladikavkaz

An advocate of activist Batraz Gagiev filed an appeal against a court's decision on the activist's arrest. According to the advocate, the court did not take into account the fact that the defendant took care of his minor children.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the court sentenced Batraz Gagiev, a participant of an unsanctioned rally in Vladikavkaz, to 15 days of administrative arrest. The defendant had been kept at a detention facility with severe pain for several days, until after a resonance on the Internet he was transferred to a clinic for medical treatment.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has been informed by Kamilla Dzotsieva, an advocate of Batraz Gagiev, that the detainee takes care of his two children, three- and four-year-old, and his disabled dependent father. The advocate emphasized that the court had not considered the above fact as a mitigating circumstance. An appeal against the court's decision on the arrest under Article "Organization of mass simultaneous stay and movement of citizens in public places that entailed a violation of public order" was filed to the Sovetsky District Court, and the consideration of the appeal was scheduled for April 30, advocate Kamilla Dzotsieva reported.

An advocate of Kantemirov, another activist detained after the unsanctioned rally in Vladikavkaz, was not allowed to attend the trial, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Zarina Dzotsieva, a coordinator of the movement "For New Socialism". According to her, activist Kantemirov was kept at a detention facility at the Oktyabrskoye village.
